“Providence,” charcoal, 36” x 48,” 2010. Another one of my favorite pieces from first semester: A view of Providence from outside my dorm - which I’m sure has been drawn millions of times throughout RISD’s history. I tried to make it a bit more expressive, however, and I do like the way it turned out. I like to tell people I was trying to give it some Lovecraft-ian or Poe-ian(?) mystique - channeling my two favorite historic Providence residents - but really all I did was take out my contacts and try to draw blurs because I couldn’t be bothered with all the details. This is a penetrating insight into my work ethic. -CR
